WORCESTER, MASS.--(2/2/10)--WPI won the final three matches, erasing a 23-8 deficit and tied Coast Guard 23-23.

Freshman Fred Green (141) and junior Andy Snyder (157) won by major decision with Green winning 10-2 and Snyder recording a 12-0 win for his team-leading 21st victory of the season to give the Bears an 8-5 lead.

Senior Matt Leisy (165) followed with a 20-4 technical fall win to give the Bears a 13-5 edge. Junior Will Stark (174) lost a 7-6 decision to cut the lead to 13-8.

Freshman Dan Pereia (184) won a major decision 14-4 as the Bears pushed the lead to 17-8 before senior Troy Robison (197) recorded a pin in 2:56 to give the Bears a seemingly commanding 23-8 lead. Coast Guard would drop the final three matches, one by pin, one by forfeit to make the score 23-20 and then senior Andrew Armstrong (133) lost a 4-3 decision and the match ended in a 23-23 tie.

Coast Guard (1-11-1) had beaten WPI 49-6 at the New England Dual Championship earlier this season for its only win of the season.

WPI is 2-16-1 on the season.
