Women's Swimming - Shadwick Named NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week
Kim Shadwick broke a pool record and earned NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week honors.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/1/10)--Coast Guard Academy junior Kim Shadwick has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Swimmer of the Week.
Shadwick won three events and broke the Coast Guard pool record in the 1,000 freestyle as the Bears handed Clark its first dual meet loss of the season with a 165-135 win.
She broke the pool record in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:37.80 and also won the 100 backstroke (1:01.60) and 500 freestyle (5:13.58).
The Bears improved to 6-4 in dual meets and guaranteed themselves a winning season for the first time in seven years and just the second time in the 11-year history of the program.
