Men's Basketball - James Named NEWMAC Player of the Week
Jevon James earned NEWMAC Player of the Week honors.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/25/10)--Coast Guard Academy junior forward Jevon James has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week.
Coast Guard beat Wheaton 80-76 in their only game of the week to improve to 3-2 in conference play, its best start in conference play in ten years. The Bears are 6-9 overall.
James, who leads the NEWMAC in rebounding with 9.5 rebounds per game, leads the Bears in scoring (13.1 ppg.) and field goal percentage (52.8 percent). He had 20 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and two blocks in the win over Wheaton. It was his seventh double-double of the season and his third in the last four games.
He connected on nine of 14 from the floor in the Bears only game of the week and James made a pair of key free throws with 37 seconds left as the Bears held on for the win.
