Women's Swimming - Bears Roll Past Merchant Marine
Margaret Owens won a pair of events to lead the Bears.
KINGS POINT, N.Y.--(1/23/10)--Freshman Margaret Owens and senior Amy Olson each won two events leading Coast Guard to a 154-89 win over rival Merchant Marine.
Owens captured the 200 freestyle (2:05.36) and the 200 backstroke (2:23.40) while Olson won the 100 breaststroke (1:11.50)and the 200 breaststroke (2:35.68).
Also for the Bears, senior Jessica Conway won the 1,000 freestyle (11:42.30), sophomore Sam Sworden won the 100 backstroke (1:04.29), freshman Elizabeth Kenis won the 200 butterfly (2:22.62), sophomore Heidi Gayman won the 50 freestyle (25.75) and junior Kim Shadwick won the 100 freestyle (54.82).
The Bears 200 medley relay team of Sworden, Olson, Shadwick and Gayman also won with a time of 1:54.15.
