PURCHASE, N.Y.--(11/21/09)--Senior Eric Hudson had a season-high 19 points to go with six rebounds and was named the tournament MVP leading Coast Guard to the Castle Classic Championship beating host Manhattanvile 73-60 in the championship game.

The Bears have won three straight since dropping their season opener to improve to 3-1 overall while Manhattanville suffered its first loss of the season and dropped to 2-1.

Coast Guard which won both games in the Castle Classic 73-60, had another excellent shooting night, hitting 23 of 40 (57.5 percent) while connecting on eight of 17 from three-point range (47.1 percent).

A trio of juniors were also in double figures for the Bears as Jevon James had 16 points and six rebounds, Adam Radtke added 11 points and Trip Fernandes, who was named to the All-tournament team had 10 points and six rebounds, a night after leading the Bears with 17 points in the first round win over Conn. College.

Manhattanville, the two-time defending Castle Classic champions, jumped out to a 16-10 lead with 11:24 left in the first half before the Bears scored eight straight capped on a three-pointer by Radtke with 9:34 left for an 18-16 lead.

The Bears scored six of the final eight points of the first half to take a 42-35 lead at the break. Coast Guard continued its hot shooting in the tournament by hitting 13 of 21 field goals in the first half (61.9 percent) while making seven of 11 (63.6 percent) from three-point range. Hudson led the way with 13 first half points.

Coast Guard maintained its lead throughout the second half as the Valiants would not get any closer than six the rest of the way.

James had a key stretch in the second half when he scored seven straight Coast Guard points as the Bears turned a 57-50 lead with 8:52 left into a 64-53 edge following an old fashion three-point play with 6:22 left in the game.
