Mike Carman set a pool record in the 200 breaststroke as the Bears beat both NYU and Wheaton.
NEW LONDON, CONN.—(11/14/09)--Mike Carman set a pool record in the 200 breaststroke by posting an NCAA B-cut time of 2:07.54 and Timmy Berry won two individual events and a relay as Coast Guard beat both NYU 175-116 and Wheaton 196-77 in a tri-meet.
Berry won the 100 backstroke (53.72) and the 200 backstroke (1:56.26) and teamed with Matt Odom, Dan Beshoar and Johnson Knox to win the 200 medley relay (1:37.73).
Nicholas Poehler won both the 500 freestyle (4:51.80) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:01.88) while Odom won the 100 breaststroke (58.89), Kevin Smit won the 200 butterfly (1:58.06), Knox won the 50 freestyle (21.57) and Beshoar won the 100 freestyle (48.28).
The Bears improve to 3-0 on the season. NYU beat Wheaton 207-95 and the Violets are now 4-1 while Wheaton drops to 0-5.
