Justin Brooks earned NEFC All-Bogan Division first team honors for the third straight season.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/13/09)--Coast Guard placed three players on the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division first team and seven players total, six on the offensive side of the ball, on the All-division team in voting by the eight head coaches in the NEFC’s Bogan Division.

Senior right tackle Justin Brooks, senior defensive lineman Doug Piper and sophomore kicker Jacob Shackleford all earn first team honors while senior right guard Ryan Fox, senior wide receiver Sam England, junior quarterback Jesse Karr and freshman tight end Casey Paris were all named to the second team.

Brooks earns first team honors for the third straight season and Shackleford earns first team honors for the second straight season while Piper earned All-conference honors for the first time in his career.

Shackleford, who led the team with 51 points, was 10 for 15 on field goal attempts while making 21 of 22 extra point attempts.

Piper was second on the team with 58 tackles, 33 solo while leading team team with 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. He also had four pass breakups, forced a fumble and blocked a kick.

England was named to the second team for the second straight season. Fox, Karr and Paris earned All-conference honors for the first time.

England, who set the Academy record with 159 receptions and is second all-time with 2,029 yards, was second on team with 40 receptions for a team-high 576 yards to go with three touchdowns.

Karr, who had not taken a collegiate snap prior to this season, had a sensational season. He was 141 of 264 for 1,640 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions and led the NEFC most of the season in passing yards per game and total offense per game before getting hurt in the seventh game of the season vs. Worcester State and then missing a majority of the loss to Maine Maritime and the final game of the season at Framingham State. The Bears set a school-record with 21 touchdown passes as freshman Jon Resch had eight touchdown passes.

Paris led all the tight ends in the division with 17 receptions, 170 yards and four touchdowns.

Coast Guard was 4-5 overall and finished fourth in the Bogan Division with a 4-3 record.
