Women's Soccer - Kurek Earns All-Conference; Bears Win Sportsmanship Award
Katie Kurek earned All-conference honors for the second straight season.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/10/09)--Coast Guard senior forward Katie Kurek was selected to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-conference second team in voting by the league’s 10 head coaches while the team received the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award in voting by the student-athletes in the conference.
Kurek earns second team honors for the second straight season and remains the only Coast Guard player since Hillary Allegretti in 2004 to earn All-conference honors.
She led Coast Guard with 10 goals, accounting for 10 for team’s 17 goals this season. Her 10 goals ranked her sixth in the conference.
Kurek finished her career with 33 goals, 26 at the Coast Guard Academy, which is third all-time.
Coast Guard was 2-14 overall and 0-9 in conference play.
