Football - Costello Earns NEFC Co-Defensive Honors
Chris Costello had three interceptions in the win over Framingham State in the season finale.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/9/09)--Coast Guard Academy junior strong safety Chris Costello intercepted a career-high three passes in the Bears 20-13 season ending victory at Framingham State on Saturday to earn New England Football Conference (NEFC) Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Costello had an interception in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters, the final one coming with 2:33 left in the game at the Coast Guard 30-yard line. He also had another pass breakup and three tackles.
The three interceptions is one shy of the school record of four which had been done five times, most recently in 1989.
Coast Guard closed the season 4-5 overall and 4-3 in the NEFC Bogan Division and Costello finished the season with a team-high five interceptions.
