Tessa Knott was the top Coast Guard finisher as she placed 16th overall.
BOSTON, MASS.--Led by captain Tessa Knott, the Bears secured a 4th place finish at the 2009 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference Championships (NEWMAC) at Franklin Park.

MIT took the championship scoring 18 points, Wellesley followed as the runner-up with 75 and Springfield was 3rd scoring 113. Coast Guard placed 4th with 117 points followed by Smith (133), WPI (163), Babson (201), Wheaton (205), then Mount Holyoke (248).

Knott crossed the finish line with a time of 20:21 placing 16th overall in a field of 122 competitors. Teammate Sarah Blatt covered the 5K course in 20:28 finishing 17th. Other top finishers for Coast Guard include Colin Fall (21:10), Katie Schumacher (21:17), and Caroline “Cat” Truesdell (21:18).

Rounding out Coast Guard’s top seven runners were Bryce VanCleef (21:24) and MaryKate Neatrour (21:29).

The Bears will compete next weekend (Saturday, November 7th) in the ECAC Championships held at Mt. Greylock High School hosted by Williams College.
