NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/24/09)--Freshman Amy Festa had three goals while junior Kristy Benoit had a goal and two assists leading Babson to a 8-0 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Babson (11-6-1, 4-4) scored four goals, by four different players in just over 18 minutes to start the game. Benoit scored in the sixth minute, freshman Nichole Vargas netted her first career goal in the 12th minute, classmate Ashley Tourso scored in the 17th minutes and Festa scored her first goal of the game in the 19th minute as the Beavers led 4-0 at halftime.

Festa scored the first two goals in the second half, just 1:38 apart, in the 50th and 51st minute for a 6-0 lead.

Sophomore Lisa Wojnar scored her first goal of the season in the 57th minute while classmate Lauren Clement closed the scoring in the 61st minute.

Junior Ellen McCurdy added a pair of assists for Babson.

Babson outshot the Bears 26-2. Senior goalkeeper Sam Scarpato did not need to make a save to pick up her second win and first shutout of the season.

Sophomore Mary Mills made 11 saves for Coast Guard (2-13, 0-8) which has dropped nine straight.
