Frank Hackett's goal in the 77th minute lifted the Bears to a win over MIT.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/17/09)--Junior Frank Hackett scored in the 77th minute to break a 1-1 tie and lead Coast Guard to a 2-1 win over MIT in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
The Bears (5-8, 1-3) snap a three-game losing streak and win their first conference game of the season. MIT drops to 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the NEWMAC.
Junior Matt Zangle gave Coast Guard an early 1-0 lead just 4:17 into the match with sophomore Brett Godiksen assisting, that was the only goal in the first half.
MIT tied it at 1-1 on goal by freshman Ben Lewis in the 64th minute with junior Kevin Chou adding the assist.
Zangle assisted on Hackett’s game winner.
Senior Tim Olah made 11 saves to pick up the win in goal for Coast Guard while sophomore Dylan Rankin had six saves for MIT.
