Women's Cross Country - Bears Make First Appearance at All-NE Championships
Tessa Knott was the top Coast Guard finisher.
BOSTON, MASS.--(10/10/09)--The Coast Guard Academy women’s cross country team raced made their first ever appearance at the Open New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston. In a race comprised of 327 athletes from Division I, II, and III institutions, the Bears finished 35th out of 49 scoring teams.
Leading the way for Coast Guard was Tessa Knott, who crossed the finish line in 19:49 placing 136th overall. Behind Knott was Sarah Blatt, finishing the 5K course in 20:23 finishing in 188th place.
Colin Fall was the next member of the squad to finish as she registered a time of 20:53. Rounding out the Bears’ runners in scoring position were Katie Schumacher and Bryce VanCleef finishing in 21:10 and 21:12.
The Coast Guard women’s cross country team is off next weekend and will return to compete on 10/24/09 at the Wellesley College Invitational in Wellesley, Mass.
