Catherine Walker had eight kills as the Bears beat Salve Regina.
NEWPORT, R.I.--(10/3/09)--Freshmen Catherine Walker and Lauren Bloch each tallied eight kills to lead Coast Guard Academy to a 3-0 win over Salve Regina University in non-conference volleyball action. Coast Guard then beat Eastern Connecticut 3-0 to improve to 13-1 on the season.

Senior Natalie Rubenoff recorded a match-high nine kills for the Seahawks (5-11), who dropped game one 25-13, game two 25-12, and game three 25-19.

Walker recorded four kills and four digs in game one to spark the Bears while Rubenoff and classmate Deanna Salter each posted two kills for Salve Regina. Junior Hillary Adams, sophomore Nicole Johnson and freshman Rachel Cuthrell each notched three kills in the second game for Coast Guard, and Bloch’s four kills in the third game sealed the win.

Salter finished the match with seven kills and eight digs for the Seahawks while sophomore Jessica Meyer tallied 22 assists and eight digs.

The Bears beat Eastern Conn. 25-18, 25-12, 25-20 in the second match of the day.
