 Nicole Johnson had 10 kills in win over Wheaton in the first of two matches on Saturday. NORTON, MASS.--(9/19/09)--Coast Guard, ranked sixth in the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) poll, swept a pair of matches in a tri-match at Wheaton to remain unbeaten and improve to 8-0 on the season.
The Bears began the day by beating the host Lyons 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-23) in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.
Sophomore Nicole Johnson led Coast Guard with 10 kills, while freshman Keriann Mason added seven kills, five aces and 16 digs.
Classmate Karen Matic provided 24 assists and 12 digs, while junior Jessica Anderson and freshman Lauren Bloch had 26 and 22 digs, respectively in the win over Wheaton.
The Bears then beat Bridgewater State 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-21) to remain unbeaten. |
