Volleyball - Bears Win Battle of Unbeatens
Keriann Mason led the way with 12 kills and 10 digs.
WORCESTER, MASS.--(9/15/09)--Freshman Keriann Mason notched a double-double to lead visiting Coast Guard to a 3-0 victory over WPI in a battle of unbeaten teams at Harrington Auditorium. The Bears took the NEWMAC opener for both squads by scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-10.
WPI, which entered the night 10-0, loses its first match of the season.
Coast Guard never trailed in the match and with the win remain undefeated at 6-0. Mason tallied 12 kills and 10 digs while classmate Karen Matic led all players with 34 assists to go along with 11 digs. Jessica Anderson added 13 digs in match.
Rookie Kerrin Beovich led the charge for the Crimson and Gray with six kills and no errors in 15 attempts. Alex Rangel turned in 11 assists and seven digs, while Joan Porambo registered a team-best 15 digs for the Engineers.
