Keriann Mason earned MVP honors as Coast Guard won the WestConn Invitational.
DANBURY, CONN.--(9/5/09)--Tournament MVP freshman Kariann Mason had 28 kills, 52 digs and five aces on Saturday as Coast Guard beat WNEC and Johnson and Wales to capture the WestConn Invitational with a perfect 3-0 record and improve to 4-0 on the season.

Freshman Karen Matic, who earned a spot on the All-tournament team, led the Bears with 76 assists in the two wins.

The Bears started the day by beating WNEC 3-1 (25-13, 25-14, 25-27, 25-21) as junior Jessica Anderson led the way with 26 digs and freshman Catherine Walker added eight kills in the win.

Coast Guard ran its win streak to four straight with a 3-1 win over Johnson & Wales (23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-17) as sophomore Nicole Johnson and freshman Lauren Bloch each led the way with 11 kills.
