BUZZARDS BAY, MASS.--(9/4/09)--Junior Matt Zangle’s goal with 2:51 remaining lifted Coast Guard to a 2-1 non-league victory over Massachusetts Maritime Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Coast Guard improves to 2-0 on the season while Mass. Maritime drops to 1-1.

Zangle deflected home a rebound from the middle on the game-winner for the visiting Bears that came on a feed from senior Brandon McMillan, who had given Coast Guard an early 1-0 advantage in the 33rd minute by converting a penalty kick.

Sophomore James Gendrolis evened matters just 25 seconds after McMillan’s marker for the host Buccaneers on a pass from fellow sophomore Ryan Fischer, and the match remained tied for the next 54 plus minutes until Zangle’s heroics ended a defensive tussle.

Senior Tim Olah picked up his second win of the season in goal for Coast Guard with a six-save effort, while sophomore Mark Mullaney helped spark a solid defensive contest with a career-high seven stops in net for Massachusetts Maritime as the Bears outshot the Buccaneers by a 14-10 margin.
