Men's Outdoor Track - Luxhoj Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team
Carl Luxhoj, who earned All-America honors in two events this season, was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(7/17/09)--Sophomore Carl Luxhoj has been named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Men’s All-Academic Track and Field team.
Luxhoj earned a pair of All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in May as he placed third in the long jump and eighth in the triple jump.
The USTFCCCA honors Division III individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor track and field season.
Luxhoj set a Don Drumm Stadium record with a leap of 48 feet, 4.75 inches in his first triple jump of the championship as he posted the best jump in the first flight. The second flight was outstanding as six athletes then beat Luxhoj’s stadium record.
His leap of 48 feet, 4.75 inches was his best of his six jumps and broke his own school record. He had a long jump of 23 feet, four inches, also breaking his own school record, to place third in the long jump event.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.
A total of 186 student-athletes representing 78 Division III colleges and universities made up the 2009 All-Academic team.
