 Carl Luxhoj placed third in the long jump at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors for the first time. MARIETTA, OHIO--(5/21/09)--Sophomore Carl Luxhoj made the most of first appearance at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships as he broke his own school record and placed third in the long jump to earn All-America honors.
Luxhoj, who was the last athlete selected for the long jump, leaped 22 feet, 6.5 inches in his flight to qualify for the finals.
He jumped 23 feet, 4 inches on his fifth jump in the finals which broke his own school record of 23 feet, 3.25 inches which he set earlier this season.
Luxhoj is not done yet, he will participate in the triple jump on Saturday, he had an automatic qualifying jump in that event. |
