Amanda Frederick earned NFCA All-Region honors for the second straight season.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(5/6/09)--Coast Guard placed five players on the 2009 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Region team. The five players is the most the Bears have had honored by the NFCA in one season.

Freshman pitcher Hayley Feindel was named to the first team, sophomore catcher Amanda Frederick was named to the second team for the second straight season while junior third baseman Courtney Wolf and senior outfielder Annette Boston also earned second team honors. Senior outfielder Jeannie Crump was named to the third team.

This season, Coast Guard became the first team to go unbeaten in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season, posting a 15-0-1 record to win its NEWMAC first regular season title.

Coast Guard, which is 36-5-1, won a school-record 28 straight games this season and earned the program’ first NCAA tournament berth. The third-seeded Bears open NCAA play in the New England Regional on Thursday vs. sixth-seeded Bridgewater State at 2:00 at Endicott College.

Feindel leads Division III with 31 wins. She was named the NEWMAC Pitcher and Rookie of the Year as she led the conference and set single-season school records for wins (31), strikeouts (348) and ERA (0.83). She was 15-0 with a 0.71 ERA during in league games this season.

Wolf, who leads the team with a .386 batting average, set a single-season school record with 13 homers to go with her team-high 43 RBI’s and .756 slugging percentage.

Frederick is hitting .381 and she leads the team in doubles (11), triples (3) to go with her 38 RBI’s.

Boston, who leads the NEWMAC with 39 stolen bases and 37 runs scored, is hitting .333.

Crump is hitting .338 with eight doubles, three homers, 18 RBI’s and 19 stolen bases.
