 Carl Luxhoj broke a pair of his own school records at the Division III New England Championships. SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(5/2/09)--Sophomore Carl Luxhoj continues to have a remarkable season and he broke a pair of his own school records. He broke his own school record in winning the triple jump (49 feet, 1 inch) and he broke his school record and finished second in the long jump (23 feet 3 1/4 inches) at the New England Division III Championships at Springfield College.
Coast Guard finished sixth as a team.
In the long jump, he surpassed his previous record of 23 feet, 1.75 inches and bested his triple jump mark of 48 feet, nine inches.
In addition, Carl Stokes placed third in the discus (144-10) and Andy Kauffman was fourth (143-10), Kyle Coleman was third in the 400-meter hurdles (55.0), the 4x400 relay team of Coleman, Josh Wofford, Tom Adams and David Boyle was sixth (3:25.22), Mike Haas was seventh in the 1,500 meters (4:00.31) while Kevin O'Brien took seventh in the 10,000 meters to all earn All-New England honors with a top eight finish.
Luxhoj has already automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships, in the triple jump. He qualified in the triple jump with his leap of 48 feet, nine inches and improved upon that this weekend.
Luxhoj has also provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships in the long jump, his best jump is now 23 feet, 3.25 inches posted on this weekend. |
