NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/28/09)--Junior Courtney Wolf was 3 for 3 with a double, homer and six RBI’s leading Coast Guard to a 9-1 win over Wesleyan in a non-conference game that was called in the sixth inning due to the eight-run rule.

Wolf blasted a three-run shot, her league-leading 13th of the season, in the first inning and added three-run double in the second as the Bears jumped out to a 6-1 lead.

Wesleyan (15-18), the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) West Division regular season champion, scored and unearned run in the first on an RBI single by sophomore Talia Bernstein scoring junior Meaghan Dendy, who reached on an error to lead off the game.

Coast Guard (35-4-1) added a run in the fourth on an RBI single by senior Jeannie Crump and two more in the sixth to end the game on a sacrifice fly by senior Colleen Denny and an RBI single by sophomore Becky Miller.

Freshman Hayley Feindel, who retired 16 of the final 17 batters she faced, allowed just two singles and an unearned run, did not walk a batter and struck out six to improve to 30-3 on the season.

Wesleyan sophomore Chelsea Swete (4-10) was charged with all nine runs and allowed 12 hits to take the loss. She worked five plus innings while classmate Anu Rimal pitched the final 2/3 of an inning.

Senior Molly O’Connell had the only other hit for the Cardinals besides Bernstein’s, a two-out single in the third.

Crump, junior Carin Sweeney and sophomore Amanda Frederick each had two hits and two runs scored while Miller also added two hits for the Bears.
