NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/18/09)--Coast Guard won five of the six singles matches enroute to a 7-2 win over Springfield in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season finale for both teams.
Fourth-seeded Coast Guard will host fifth-seeded Springfield in the first round of the NEWMAC tournament on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
Greg Mitchell (#1), Nick Martin (#2), Chris Pappe (#3), James Vuckovic (#4) and Wesley Figaro (#5) all won singles matches for Coast Guard (7-8, 2-3). Martin, Pappe and Figaro won in straight sets.
Pappe and Mitchell won at #2 singles, 8-0 while Vuckovic and Tim Ozimek won 8-3 at #3 doubles for the Bears.
