HARTFORD, CONN.--(4/16/09)--The Bears lost to powerhouse Trinity, ranked No. 5 in the Northeast and No. 12 in the nation, and although Trinity won 9-0, there was some outstanding tennis - starting with the doubles.

Greg Mitchell and Nick Martin teamed up at #1 to take on Gautam Samarth and David Yahng, Trinity's top doubles team, regionally ranked as high as #5. Chris Pappe and Wesley Figaro teamed at #2 to play Nick White and Spencer Feldman (regionally ranked #10). Both doubles matches were well contested with great doubles play and both went to Trinity 8-5.

Trinity dominated most singles play but there were bright spots at #2 and #4 singles which were the last off the courts. Each had plenty of great play.

The #2 singles featured Nick Martin playing Trinity's David Yahng. Yahng was nearly perfect in the first set hitting winners at will from anywhere on the court to win at love, 6-0. But Martin did not allow himself to get down - fighting back to take the second set 7-6 after winning a terrific tie-breaker 10-8. The third set super breaker was again closely contested but Yahng pulled it out 10-7.

The #4 singles matched Wesley Figaro against Trinity's Ian Malakoff.
Although Malakoff won in straight sets, Figaro continued to play great tennis, especially in a close 7-5 first set.

Up next is the last regular season NEWMAC match at home against Springfield College.
