 Hayley Feindel recorded a save in the opener and pitched a complete game to get the win in game two as the Bears ran their win streak to 24. BRISTOL, R.I.--(4/15/09)--Freshman Hayley Feindel picked up the save in game one and pitched a complete game allowing a run on five hits while striking out 13 in the nightcap as Coast Guard, ranked 22nd nationally, ran its school-record win streak to 24 sweeping Roger Williams 10-9 and 4-1 in a non-conference doubleheader.
Coast Guard (28-2) scored seven runs in the top of the third inning with sophomore Amanda Frederick having the big hit in the inning, a two-run homer, her first of the season, but the Hawks climbed back in the game, cutting the lead to 8-5 in the fifth and with runners on second and third when Feindel came on in relief of freshman Nicole Black and retired the next three batters.
The Bears added two runs in the sixth on RBI singles by freshman Jamie Kim and sophomore Becky Miller for a 10-5 advantage.
Roger Williams scored four runs off Feindel in the sixth with Burke delivering the big blow a three-run double which cut the lead to 10-9, Burke was left on third as Feindel recorded a strikeout to end the sixth and put the Hawks down in order in the seventh to record her second save of the season. Black got the win to improve to 4-0.
Frederick, Miller, junior Courtney Wolf and senior Carin Sweeney each had two hits for the Bears in the opener. Frederick drove in three runs and Miller added a pair of RBI's.
In game two, Coast Guard got all the runs it would need in the top of the first on an RBI single by Frederick and Wolf, who reached on a fielder's choice later scored on a passed ball for a 2-0 lead.
The Hawks (18-14) scored their run in the fourth, but the Bears got the run back in the sixth on an RBI single by senior Colleen Denny and Coast Guard added an insurance run in the seventh on an RBI single by senior Annette Boston.
Denny was 2 for 2 in game two for the Bears.
Feindel won her Division III best 23rd game and improved to 23-1 on the season with the win in game two as she scattered the five hits and walked just one while fanning 13.
