NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/15/09)--Coast Guard Academy is ranked 22nd nationally in a pair of polls released on Wednesday. The Bears debut at #22 in both the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III poll and the Division III Softball - The Newsletter weekly poll.

The Bears are riding a 22 game winning streak and are 26-2 overall and 11-0 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

Freshman pheonom Hayley Feindel and junior third baseman Courtney Wolf each collected two more weekly honors after earning NEWMAC Pitcher and Player of the Week accolades on Monday.

They both were named the New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association (NEISCA) and the Division III Softball - The Newsletter New England Pitcher and Player of the Week.

Feindel won all three games last week improve to 20-1 on the season. She threw three complete games and allowed just one earned run. She walked four and struck out 25 posting a 0.37 ERA. She leads Division III with 20 wins. Feindel is currently 22-1 and leads the NEWMAC with a 0.69 ERA and has set a single-season school record with 219 strikeouts.

Wolf had a huge week as she was 8 for 9, hitting .889 with a double, four homers and eight RBI’s. She had a slugging percentage of 2.333 with 21 bases in nine at bats. She leads the team with a .422 batting average, and 34 RBI’s and an .855 slugging percentage. Wolf has already set the single-season school record with ten homers this season.
