John Jeffares had two hits and accounted for the Bears two runs with a two-run single.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(3/24/09)--Sophomore Gary Levesque was 3 for 5 with a double, homer, three runs scored and three RBI’s leading Rhode Island College to an 11-2 win over Coast Guard in a non-conference game.

Junior Jared Rossi led off the game by homering on the first pitch as RIC (11-3) scored one run in each of the first three innings for a 3-0 lead.

Senior Josh Cardoso led off the fifth with a homer and senior Garrett Grenier added an RBI double in the inning for a 5-0 lead.

RIC scored four more in the sixth with freshman Jeff Salcedo highlighting the inning with a two-run single as the Anchormen took a 9-0 lead.

Coast Guard got its only runs of the game on a two-run single by junior John Jeffares in the seventh.

Levesque closed the scoring with a two-run homer in the ninth.

Rossi, Cardoso, senior Jordan Amorin, senior B.J. Doyon and senior Bryan Colombero each had two hits for RIC which had 15 hits in the game.

Junior Paul Vatter (2-0) worked seven innings and scattered seven hits, allowing two earned runs while walking three and striking out six to pick up the win.

Mike Ahlin (1-3) worked the first five innings and took the loss for Coast Guard.

Jeffares and junior Keith Laird each had two hits for the Bears, who have dropped seven straight.
