Amanda Frederick hit .500 with a 1.017 slugging percentage to earn NEWMAC Player of the Week honors.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(3/23/09)--Coast Guard swept the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly softball honors as freshman Hayley Feindel was named the Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week and sophomore catcher Amanda Frederick earned Player of the Week honors.
Feindel was dominating once again this week as she didn’t allow a run, threw two NEWMAC shutouts, won three games and recorded a save as Coast Guard won all four games to run its win streak to eight.
Hayley threw a pair of shutouts against Wheaton on Saturday and for the week she threw 20 innings and allowed no runs, eight hits while walking six and fanning 32 holding the opponents to a .121 batting average.
Frederick hit .500 (7 for 14) with six extra base hits, four doubles and two triples for a 1.071 slugging percentage. She scored seven runs and drove in six runs as Coast Guard went 4-0 to improve to 12-2 on the season.
