 Pat Bennett won three events as the Bears rolled at Conn. College NEW LONDON, CONN.--(3/21/09)--Junior Pat Bennett won both the 100 and 200 meters and was part of the winning 4x100 relay team as Coast Guard easily won the season opening Conn. College Invitational.
CGA won the meet with 332 points while Wesleyan was a distant second with 105 points.
Bennett had a time of 11.52 in the 100 and 23.32 in the 200 meters. He teamed with Matt Tolliver, Josh Wofford, and Tom Adams to win the 4x100 meters.
Also for the Bears, David Boyle won the 400 meters (50.90) and anchored the winning 4 x 400 relay (3:34.01) with Chris Monacelli, Dan Miller, and Josh Wofford. In the mid-distance events, Mike Haas won the 800 with a time of 2:00.09 and the 1500 meters (4:06.79).
In the field events, John Jaskot won the high jump with a height of 6’1.25”, Jordan Kellam won the pole vault clearing 12’9”, and Carl Luxhoj won both the long jump and triple jump with marks of 21’ 10.75” and 45’11.25 respectively.
In the throws, Carl Stokes was first in the shot put and discus throwing 43’10.5” and 135’9”. In the hammer throw, Tim Bonner took first place throwing 134’0 and teammate Al Kealy placed first in the javelin with a mark of 160’8”.
Overall, Coast Guard placed first in 16 out of 18 events. Luxhoj, Cremeans qualified for the All Division New England Championships. Boyle, Adams, Stokes, Jaskot, Kellam, Kealy qualified for the Division III New England Championships.
