 Sarah Hohnstadt was one of seven student-athletes from Coast Guard named to the team. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(3/6/09)--Coast Guard placed seven student-athletes on the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Academic men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams.
Senior Shea Winterberger, juniors Ariana Pourminor and Sarah Hohnstadt and sophomore Sarah-Jane Otey were named to the women’s team.
Junior Taylor Volkman and sophomores Brian Bonomi and Zach McCune were named to the men’s team.
Winterberger, Pourmonir and Otey are all Marine and Environmental Sciences major.
Hohnstadt and McCune are Mechanical Engineering majors while Volkman is a Operations Research/Computer Analysis major and Bonomi majors in Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2008 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. |
