Wrestling - Robinson Earns All-N.E. Honors
Kevin Robinson earned All-New England honors, the only Bear to do so this weekend.
SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(2/22/09)--Coast Guard Academy senior Kevin Robinson closed out his career earning All-New England honors with a fifth place finish in the 174 pound weight class at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Division III Championship.
Coast Guard finished 12th of 15 teams with 23 points.
Robinson, who earned All-New England honors for the first time in his career, won on an injury default before losing his second match to top-seeded Jerome Owens of Johnson and Wales.
In the consolation bracket, Robinson pinned Matt Hansen of WNEC in 4:16 and then beat Zach Bates of Bridgewater State 6-2 to assure himself of earning All-New England honors.
Victor Stanziale of Springfield beat Robinson 6-2 sending the Coast Guard senior to the fifth place match.
In the fifth place match, Robinson, who was seeded 8th coming into the tournament, blanked Larry Coughlin of Southern Maine 6-0.
