Women's Swimming - Shadwick Named NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week
Kim Shadwick earned NEWMAC Player of the Week honors for the first time.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/2/09)--Coast Guard Academy sophomore Kim Shadwick has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Swimmer of the Week.
Shadwick, who earns NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week honors for the second time this season, has not lost a freestyle or backstroke event in dual meets this season.
Last week, she set a school record in the 1,000 freestyle in a win over Clark on Saturday. The time of 10:43.25 is also the fastest time in the NEWMAC this season.
She also won the 500 freestyle (5:20.08) and was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team with a time of 1:43.40.
In the Bears other meet last week, a loss to Conn. College, Shadwick won the 100 backstroke (1:02.34) and the 200 backstroke (2:12.99).
