 Carl Luxoj won three events as the Bears captured the Winter Invitational. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/17/09)--Carl Luxhoj won the 200 meters, the long jump and the triple jump as Coast Guard won the Coast Guard Winter Invitational.
The Bears, who finished with 314 points, easily beat second place Conn. College (95), Rhode Island College (86) and Merchant Marine (61).
Luxhoj won the 200 meters with a time of 23.90, the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 8.5 inches and the triple jump with a jump of 45 feet, 11.75 inches.
Kyle Coleman won the 400 meters with a time of 51.99 while Thomas Adams (52.84) and Josh Wofford (53.88) were second and third respectively.
Mike Persun won the 800 meters (2:03.95) as the Bears took the top six places in that event. Pat Fernandez was second (2:05.67) and Bret Morris placed third (2:06.04).
Mike Haas won the 1,000 meters (2:37.58), Mike Mrkvicka won the 3,000 meters (8:12.43), Jordan Kellam won the pole vault (13-9), Carl Stokes won the shot put (43-10.75) and Devin Adams won the weight throw (42.6.25) for the Bears.
The 4x400 meter relay team (3:37.34) of Coleman, David Boyle, Micah Knight and Adams and the 4x800 meter relay team (8:58.17) of Andrew Price, Kevin Sorrell, Trevor Siperek and Cory Fagan also won for the Bears.
