David O'Brien earned second team All-England honors, the highest honor for a Coast Guard player since 1994.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/15/08)--Coast Guard Academy senior midfielder David O’Brien has been named to the 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Adidas All-New England team. He was named to the second team.

O’Brien, who was named a first team All-conference selection in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), for the second straight season finished the season with five goals and two assists. He earns All-New England honors for the first time in his career.

Coast Guard captured the ECAC New England Division III Championship and did not allow a goal in the entire tournament, to win the program’s third ECAC Championship and first since 1998.

O’Brien becomes the first Coast Guard player to earn second team honors or better since Steve Roncone was a first team selection in 1994.

The Bears were 13-8-1 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
