Nicole Gurr earned All-America honors for the third straight season.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/19/08)--Coast Guard Academy senior Nicole Gurr continues to collect the postseason honors after her magnificent career which was capped with her third straight spot on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America team.

Gurr, the Bears all-time leader with 1,815 kills, was named All-New England by the New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) for the fourth straight season. She was named to the second team this year after earning first team honors in 2006 and 2007. Gurr was also named to the second team in 2005.

The senior middle blocker also earned All-region honors from the AVCA for the third straight season and was named honorable mention All-America for the second straight season after being a second-team All-America in 2006 when the Bears advanced to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament.

Gurr, who led the team this season with 394 kills and 65 aces and was second with 94 blocks, finished her career with 237 aces which is third on the Bears’ all-time list and 300 career blocks which ranks her fourth in school history.
