 Senior co-captain Bryan Conrad and the Bears open the season at the Ithaca Invitational. Coast Guard must replace a trio of four-year lettermen, but the Bears have a plethora of returners from last season’s team which finished 3-12 in dual meets.
The Bears return a pair of All-New England wrestlers in senior co-captain Bryan Conrad at 125 pounds, who earned All-New England honors in 2007, but suffered a season ending injury last season along with junior Andrew Armstrong at 133 pounds. Armstrong earned All-New England honors last season with a sixth place finish.
Senior co-captain Kevin Robinson is back at 174 pounds.
Coast Guard has a solid junior class in which seven wrestlers will many significant contributions this season and they are Dan Ippolitto (133), James Radar (141), Fran O’Brien (149), Matt Leisy (165), Dan Sorby (197), Troy Robison (Hwt.) along with Sean Karasevitz (Hwt.), who suffered a season ending injury a year ago.
A pair of sophomores, Andy Snyder (157), the team’s freshman MVP last season, and Will Stark (165) will contend for All-New England honors this season.
The Bears have several newcomers expected to contribute this season, sophomore Nate Neuhardt (125) is a new addition who along with three talented freshman from Massachusetts, John Kelly (133), Pete Harrington (165) and Adam Rice (Hwt.), will give the Bears some depth. Freshman Reggie Reynolds will also see time on the mat this season.
Freshmen Pat Burks, Sean Hipe and Gary Glatz have also showed promise in the preseason for the Bears.
