Sophomore Nick Devine scored twice as the Bears improved to 3-0 on the young season.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/6/08)--Senior Dave O’Brien and sophomore Nick Devine each scored a pair of goals as the Bears scored five times in the first half and remained unbeaten with a 7-1 win over Mass. Maritime in a non-conference game.

Senior tri-captain Thomas Cameron opened the scoring, 7:55 into the match for Coast Guard with junior Jacob Larsen assisting.

O’Brien scored just 55 seconds later, assisted by senior tri-captain Peter Deneen and then again in the 25th minute as Coast Guard (3-0) took a 3-0 lead.

Senior Nate Wojcik and Devine added first half goals, Devine’s a header, as the Bears led 5-0. Junior Spencer Ross and freshman Sean Stadig assisted on those two goals respectively.

Mass. Maritime (0-2) got its only goal of the game on a penalty kick by Christian Lopes with just 41 seconds left in the first half.

Devine had the first goal of the second half in the 80th minute with senior tri-captain James Toohey adding the assist. The Bears added an own goal, its second own goal in as many games to close the scoring.

Coast Guard outshot Mass. Maritime 13-8.
