HAVERFORD, PA.--(8/30/08)--Coast Guard dropped its first two matches of the season at the Haverford Tournament after winning the opening set in each match.
The Bears lost to Gallaudet 3-2 (25-21,17-25, 25-20, 19-25, 8-15). Coast Guard had 35 errors and ended the match with a negative hitting percentage as the team totaled 34 kills led by 13 from senior co-captain Nicole Gurr. Sophomore Jessica Anderson led the way with 19 digs while Gurr added 14 digs and a team-high three blocks.
In the second match of the day for Coast Guard, the Bears lost to Susquehanna 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 16-25, 19-25). Gurr once again led the way, this time with 13 kills, to with nine digs while Anderson had a career-high 21 digs and three aces for the Bears. Junior Courtney Wolf led the way with five blocks in the loss. |
