Bobby Brown was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(6/10/08)--Bobby Brown, who graduated from the Coast Guard Academy last month, has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America men's at-large second team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Brown, a seven-time All-America in swimming, earned All-America status in two events, the 200 and 1,650 freestyle this season. He was also named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimmer of the Year as the led the Bears to their third straight conference championship.

Brown, who had a 3.51 GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major, earn Academic All-America honors for the first time. He was a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) and had earned the Gold Star for Academics and been named to the Dean's List six times. He also earned the Silver Star for Military Excellence.
