Ken Franklin drove in three runs in the opener as the Bears beat Mitchell 7-5.
NORWICH, CONN.--(4/30/08)--Ken Franklin drove in three runs and Pete Schofield pitched a complete game leading Coast Guard to a 7-5 win in the opener before Cody Faddis pitched six solid innings leading Mitchell to a 7-6 win in game two of a non-conference doubleheader at Dodd Stadium, the final games of the season for Coast Guard.

Coast Guard (7-21) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in game one as the Bears scored twice in the first on a two-run double by Kevin Higgins and then three times in the second on an RBI single by Christian George and a two-run single by Franklin.

George and Higgins each had two hits in the opener for the Bears.

Mitchell (14-15) scored four runs in the fourth inning, scoring on a wild pitch, balk and back-to-back RBI singles by Robert McHugh and Clayton Boegler.

The Bears responded with two in the home half on a bases loaded walk to Bill Birch and an RBI groundout by Franklin for a 7-4 lead.

Mitchell scored the final run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Alex Hamlin in the seventh inning.

Schofield scattered eight hits and allowed five earned runs while walking four and striking out six to pick up the win. Jesse Karr got the final two outs to pick up his first collegiate save. Scott Fenton, who got knocked out in the third inning took the loss for Mitchell.

In game two, Faddis threw six solid innings and allowed eight hits, four runs, three earned while walking three and striking out four to get the win. Paul Martinez pitched the seventh and final inning to pick up his first collegiate save.

Coast Guard scored twice in the seventh an RBI single by Higgins and a throwing error to make the score 7-6 before Martinez picked Bill Birch off second base and got Ryan Milligan to fly out to right field to end the game.

Mitchell got on the board first on an RBI single by Brandyn Michalak before Coast Guard got two back in the first on an RBI groundout by Adam Reckley and a sacrifice fly by Franklin.

John Migliaccio and John McGarry had back-to-back RBI singles in the third as Mitchell scored three times for a 4-2 lead.

Coast Guard tied the game in the fourth on an RBI single by George before John Jeffares scored on a throwing error. George had two hits in each game for the Bears.

Mitchell scored three unearned runs off Coast Guard reliever and losing pitcher Will Becker in the sixth as the Pequots took advantage of a pair of errors to go with two hits including an RBI single by Alex Hamlin.

Kevin Thomas worked the first five innings for the Bears and allowed five hits and just one earned run while walking four and striking out seven.

Boegler and McGarry each had two hits for Mitchell in game two.
