Softball - Bears Split Season Ending Doubleheader
Amanda Frederick had four RBI in the game one victory over Eastern Connecticut.
WILLIMANTIC, CONN.--(4/24/08)--Freshman Amanda Frederick had two hits and drove in four runs while classmate Becky Miller was 3 for 3 with two RBI and two runs scored as Coast Guard beat Eastern Connecticut 11-7 in the opener of a non-conference doubleheader. ECSU won the nightcap 13-0 in five innings as Coast Guard ended the season 14-24 overall.
Frederick had a two-run single to highlight a four-run third and a two-run double as the Bears scored four times in the fourth to break a 4-4 tie. Coast Guard trailed 3-0 after one inning.
Frederick finished the season with a freshman school record 45 RBI.
Colleen Denny and Carin Sweeney each had two hits in the game one win while Crystal Lee Coonan picked up the win with a complete game.
Eastern (22-10) scored twice in the first and five times in the third enroute to the game two win. Coonan took the loss for Coast Guard. The Bears were held to just four hits in game two.
