(photo by Darnell Isaacs) NEWPORT, R.I.--(4/17/08)--Leanna Minton was 4 for 4 with four stolen bases and two runs scored as Coast Guard won the second game of a doubleheader 10-4 to salvage a split with Salve Regina fter losing the opener 7-3.
Also in game two, Annette Boston had two hits and two runs scored. The Bears capitalized on six Salve Regina errors that led to five unearned runs.
In the opener, Lauryn Dahrooge and sophomore Kristen Danubio were strong in the heart of the order. The 3-4 hitters for the Seahawks (15-15) combined five hits, three runs scored and two runs batted in. Danubio had a double, two singles and two runs scored, while Dahrooge doubled, singled and scored once.
Senior Alison Hanson chipped in with two hits and three RBI, as Salve Regina supported pitcher Sarah Jakiela, who struck out eight while allowing just two earned runs to earn the victory.
Crystal Lee Coonan, who took the loss for Coast Guard in game one, scattered eight hits and allowed just two earned runs in game two to pickup the win.
