BABSON PARK, MASS.--(4/8/09)--Babson won four of the six singles matches enroute to a 6-3 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.

The Bears got wins from Chris Pappe at #3 singles and Vince Falco at #6 singles while the No. 2 doubles team of Pappe and Wesley Figaro got the other point for Coast Guard (6-6, 1-2).

Tennis - Bears Blank Merchant Marine 9-0

Greg Mitchell won at both singles and doubles for the Bears.

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/5/09)--Coast Guard won every set and cruised to a 9-0 win over rival Merchant Marine 9-0 in a non-conference match.

Greg Mitchell (#1), Chris Pappe (#2), Tim Ozimek (#3), Anthony Foss (#4), Matt Faha (#5) and Craig Johnson (#6) all won singles matches for the Bears.

Mitchell and Nick Martin (#1), Pappe and Wesley Figaro (#2) and Cody Isaacson and Vince Falco (#3) won doubles matches.

Men's Tennis - Wheaton Edges Bears 5-4

NORTON, MASS.--(4/4/09)--Freshman Neall Oliver rallied to win his singles match in a third-set tiebreaker, and sophomore Cullen Garrity's ensuing victory capped the Wheaton College men's tennis team's 5-4 comeback triumph against the United States Coast Guard Academy on Saturday in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action.

During a match that began on the Clark Tennis Courts during doubles and had the singles portion played out in Beard Field House, the Lyons won their fourth straight decision in improving to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in league play. The Bears are now 5-5 and 1-1.

Nick Martin earned NEWMAC Player of the Week honors.

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(3/30/09)--Coast Guard Academy freshman Nick Martin was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Tennis Singles Player of the Week.

Martin won both his matches at #2 singles, and dropped just two sets during the week. He beat Nate Rebello from Rhode Island College 6-0, 6-2 and then defeated Ben Gross from Clark 6-0, 6-0.

Coast Guard improved to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in NEWMAC play with the two wins last week.
