SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(4/17/10)--The Coast Guard Academy men's tennis team took a 2-1 lead after doubles, and went on to defeat their counterparts from Springfield College, 6-3, indoors this afternoon at the Springfield College Field House.

With the loss, SC falls to 4-11 overall, and 1-4 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. Coast Guard improves its overall record to 9-8, and its NEWMAC record to 3-2.

Coast Guard won at the top four singles slots, including at No. 1 as sophomore Greg Mitchell won 6-2, 7-5.

Nick Martin (#2), Chris Pappe (#3) and Blake Maurer (#4) also won singles matches for Coast Guard.

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/15/10)--The Coast Guard Academy tennis team hosted 18th ranked Trinity today. The Bantams took the dual match 7-2.

Just as the doubles started a cold weather front moved in that was accompanied by wind gusts and dropping temperature that made conditions difficult for tennis. Trinity’s #3 team of freshmen Kyle Boquslawski and Michael Pucci combined to win the first point over senior Cody Isaacson and junior Anthony Foss 8-2. But on the other two doubles courts it was the Bears who were handling the conditions and playing great tennis. On the #1 court, senior captain Chris Pappe and sophomore Greg Mitchell traded service breaks with Trinity’s sophomore Anson McCook and freshman Dan Couzens. Mitchell and Pappe broke again to go up 7-6 and Mitchell held serve to take the #1 doubles 8-6.

Men's Tennis - Bears Beat Clark 7-2

Greg Mitchell won at #1 singles and teamed with Chris Pappe to win at #1 doubles for Coast Guard.

WORCESTER, MASS.--(4/12/10)--Coast Guard won five of the six singles matches enroute to a 7-2 win over Clark in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.

Greg Mitchell won at #1 singles, 7-5, 6-2 and teamed with Chris Pappe to win at #1 doubles, 8-6.

Nick Martin won at #2 singles, 6-1,6-2 and Blake Maurer won 6-4, 6-2 at #3 singles and the duo teamed for an 8-4 win at #2 doubles for Coast Guard.

Anthony Foss won at #5 singles, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (5) while Matt Faha won at #6 singles, 6-4, 6-3 for the Bears, who won their second match in as many days and improved to 8-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Men's Tennis - Bears Beat Rival Merchant Marine 7-2

Cody Isaacson teamed with Joe Sullivan-Springhetti to win at #3 doubles for the Bears.

KINGS POINT, N.Y.--(4/11/10)--Coast Guard won four of the singles matches and swept the doubles matches to beat rival Merchant Marine 7-2 in a non-conference match.

Blake Maurer won at #1 singles, Anthony Foss won at #3 singles, Matt Faha won at #4 singles while Joe Sullivan-Springhetti picked up the win at #5 singles for the Bears.

Maurer teamed with Chris Pappe to win at #1 doubles, Faha and Foss won the point at #2 doubles while Cody Isaacson and Sullivan-Springhetti won at #3 doubles for the Bears, who evened their record at 7-7 on the season.
