Men's Tennis - Pappe Named All-NEWMAC; Bears Win Sportsmanship Award

Chris Pappe was named second team All-conference at the No. 2 singles spot.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/29/08)--Coast Guard Academy sophomore Chris Pappe was named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC)Men’s Tennis All-conference second team and the Bears won the Sportsmanship Award for the second straight season in voting by the league’s six head coaches.

Pappe was named to the second team at the No. 2 singles spot. He was 4-1 in conference action, including one win at No. 1 singles this season.

Ten time defending NEWMAC champion MIT took all six first team All-conference singles spots, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Years honors.
 
Men's Tennis - Wheaton Holds off Bears in NEWMAC Tourney
NORTON, MASS.--(4/24/08)--Sophomore James Little's three-set singles victory clinched the fourth-seeded Wheaton College men's tennis team a 5-3 triumph over the number-five United States Coast Guard Academy in the opening round of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament on Thursday at the Clark Tennis Courts. Now 9-6, the Lyons will take on nine-time league champion Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the tournament's top seed, on Saturday in the semifinals at Coast Guard. The Bears end their season at 3-14.

Men's Tennis - Conn. College Beats Bears 8-1
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/22/08)--The Connecticut College men’s tennis team (4-13) closed out the 2008 season with an 8-1 victory against the Coast Guard Academy (3-13) Tuesday.

Freshman Trevor Prophet cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at #1 singles. Ted McAusher earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory at #3 singles for the Camels.

Andrew Watts, Craig Stanton and Reid Larsen posted straight set victories in their respective slots at #4, 5 and #6 singles.

Senior Ryan Beck accounted for the Coast Guard point with a 7-6, 6-3 triumph at #1 singles.

 
Men's Tennis - Bears Beat Clark 7-2

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/19/08)--Coast Guard had a dominating performance beating Clark 7-2 to pickup its first conference win of the season in NEWMAC action.

Ryan Beck (No. 1 singles), Chris Pappe (No. 2 singles), James Vuckovic (No. 3 singles) and Vince Falco (No. 5 singles) all won singles matches while the Bears swept all three doubles matches.

Beck and Pappe won at No. 1 doubles, Vuckovic and Brett Sillman won at No. 2 singles while Falco and Tim Ozimek won at No. 3 singles.

Coast Guard will be the fifth-seed in the NEWMAC tournament which begins on Thursday. The Bears will play at fourth-seeded Wheaton in the first round.
