 Kim Kopcak won the discus at the Swanson Invitational. MIDDLETOWN, CONN.--(4/9/11)--Kim Kopcak won the discus while Alexa Hunko captured the javelin for Coast Guard at the Elmer Swanson Invitational at Wesleyan University.
Kopcak won the discus with a throw of 102 feet while Hunko won the javelin with a toss of 92 feet, four inches.
The Bears took the top three spots in the discus as Emily Trudeau was second (100-3) and Amanda Cost placed third (99-9). |

 Emily Zalewski won the 400 meters to lead the Bears to a second place finish. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/2/11)-- Emily Zalewski won the 400 meters finishing in 1:01.36 and she also anchored the 2nd place 4x400 relay with teammates Abby Bishop, Kristen Euchler, and Margaret Kratz with a time of 4:20.17 as the Bears tied for second at the Coast Guard Invitational.
In the field events, Gina Caylor tied for 2nd in the pole vault clearing 2.75m (9’ .25”). Elizabeth Flint was 2nd in the triple jump with a best mark of 10.49 (34’5”). Emily Trudeau took a pair of 2nd places in the shot put and the discus throwing 10.84 meters (35’6.75”) and 34.98m (114’ 9”). Flint (TJ), Caylor (PV), Trudeau (DT) qualified for the DIII New England Championships.
Coast Guard women placed in a tie for second with Wesleyan scoring 89 points. Westfield took the meet with 120. Conn College took 4th with 75 points. |

 Elizabeth Flint placed second in the triple jump. WESTFIELD, MASS.--(3/26/11)--Freshman Elizabeth Flint placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 33 feet, 8.5 inches and was the top Coast Guard finisher at the season-opening Gerry Gravel Classic at Westfield State University.
Sophomore Kim Kopcak placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 103 feet, 11 inches for the Bears while junior Katie Schumacher finished seventh in the 10,000 meters with a time of 41:54.85
Coast Guard finished 13th of the 18 teams.

 Alaina Kiskaddon set a school-record in the 400 hurdles. DEDHAM, MASS.--(5/8/10)--Alaina Kiskaddon set a new school record in the 400 hurdles to earn All-New England honors at the All-New England Championships featuring athletes from Divisions I, II and III.
She earned All-New England honors at the All divisions meet for the first time with a time of 1:04.76 which qualified for the finals and broke the school record of Jennifer Roy (1:04.97) set in 1995.
Also for the Bears, senior Anne Jefferson placed 7th in the discus throw 130 feet to earn All-New England honors at the All divisions meet for the first time. |
