Women's Track - Lee Sets Record and Earns Pair of All-NE Honors

JoEllen Arons earned a pair of All-New England honors in her final N.E. Championship.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(5/3/08)--Junior Chanel Lee earned All-New England honors in both the 100 meters and the 100 meter hurdles as the Bears placed 13th of the 28 teams at the New England Division III Track and Field Championships hosted by the Coast Guard Academy.

Lee broke her own school record for the second time this year with a time of 15.47 to place fourth in the 100 meter hurdles while she also placed third in the 100 meters with a time of 12.75.

Women's Outdoor Track - Bears Win NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/29/08)--The Coast Guard Academy men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams both won the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference Sportsmanship Awards for the 2008 season.

Coast Guard placed second at the NEWMAC Championships in men’s track and fourth in women’s track.

The Coast Guard men win the award for the second straight season while the women’s program is given the honor for the first time.

The Bears will host the New England Division III Track and Field Championships beginning on Thursday. The event runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

NORTHAMPTON, MASS.--(4/26/08)--Chanel Lee broke her own school record and won the 100 meter high hurdles while Anne Jefferson won the discus as Coast Guard placed fourth at the NEWMAC Championships at Smith College.

Lee had a time of 15.66 breaking her record of 15.72 and Jefferson won with a toss of 124 feet, eight inches.

Also for the Bears, JoEllen Arons was third in the 1,500 meters (4:46.95) and Victoria Stevens was third in the shot put (36-8.5).

Wheaton won the championship with 205 points edging defending Springfield which finished with 203 points.

MIT was third with 178 while Coast Guard finished with 67 points.
 
Women's Outdoor Track - Bears Place 2nd at Silfen Invitational

Chanel Lee won the 100 meter hurdles to lead the Bears.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/19/08)--Chanel Lee won the 100 meter hurdles and placed third in the triple jump leading Coast Guard to a seocnd place finish at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College.

Lee won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.75 and had a leap of 33’ 1.75” in the triple jump.

JoEllen Arons won the 1500m run with a time of 4:48.33 while Dana Tomc took first in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.23.
