Men's Outdoor Track - Bears Win Silfen Invitational

Kevin O'Brien won the 10,000 meters as the Bears easily won the Silfen Invitational.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/23/11)--Coast Guard cruised to victory in the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College as the Bears won seven events to win the 19-team Invitational.

The Bears finished with 141 points to beat UMass-Dartmouth, which finished second with 78 while the host Camels, finished third with 72.5 points.

Trevor Siperek (15:20.53) and Nate Crum (15:24.56) were first and second in the 5,000 meters.

Men's Outdoor Track - Kosack Qualifies for NE Champs in Decathlon

Clay Kosack placed 10th at the Holy Cross Decathlon.
WORCESTER, MASS.--(4/21/11)--Freshman Clay Kosack placed tenth overall in the Holy Cross Decathlon scoring 5,088 points. The Multi-Event competition sponsored Division I, II, and III competition.

Kosack’s overall score was good enough to qualify for the Division III New England Championships held at MIT on May 5th & 6th.

His collegiate personal record of 53.94 in the 400 meter dash, 18.52 in the 110 meter high hurdles, and 134’3” javelin throw help pushed him beyond the qualifying standard.
 
Men's Outdoor Track - Bonner Double Winner at Springfield

Tieran Bonner won both the 100 and 200 meters for the Bears.
SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(4/16/11)--Tieran Bonner won both the 100 meters (11.64) and the 200 meters (23.28) as the Bears placed second at a tri-meet with WPI and host Springfield.

Adam Scalesse won the 100 hurdles (15.44) and took second in the 400 hurdles (56.15) while Carl Luxhoj won the triple jump (47-11) and took second in the long jump (23-1.25).

Also for the Bears, Kyle Coleman won the 400 hurdles (56.15), Will Baker won the discus (137-1) and Ben Wolhaupter won the pole vault (13-9).

Men's Outdoor Track - Bears Sweep NEWMAC Weekly Honors

Adam Scalesse earned NEWMAC Track Athlete of the Week for the second straight week.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/11/11)--Senior Carl Luxhoj and freshman Adam Scalesse were both honored as weekly Men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week by the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

Luxhoj was named the NEWMAC Field Athlete of the Week as won both the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 10.75 inches and the triple jump (45 feet, 8.5 inches) at the Elmer Swanson Invitational at Wesleyan University.

Scalesse earns NEWMAC Track Athlete of the Week honors for the second straight week as he won both the 110 hurdles (15.11) and the 400 hurdles (54.73) over the weekend at Wesleyan. Scalesse is now ranked first in Division III New England and fourth in the ECAC in the 400 hurdles and he is second in Division III New England in the 110 hurdles.
