Men's Track - Bears Capture Silfen Invitational
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/21/07)--Mike Laurence won the 200 meters (22.91), Jason Erickson the 400 (50.53), Sam England the 400 hurdles (56.84) and Mike Comerford the pole vault (12-9) to lift Coast Guard to a victory at the Silfen Invitational at Conn College with 167.5 points.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute was second with 138.5 points and UMass-Dartmouth third with 126.

Laurence, Erickson, England and Comerford all qualified for the Division III New England meet later in the season.

Thomas Adams (200 meters), Mike Persun (1,500), James Provost (pole vault), Chris Bonner (shot put) and Lee Crusius (hammer) finished second in their respective events for the Bears.

 
Men's Track - Steve Blum Wins Decathlon

Steve Blum won the Holy Cross Decathlon with 6,197 points.
WORCESTER, MASS.--(4/20/07)--Junior Steve Blum won two events and placed second in another as he won the Holy Cross Decathlon with 6,197 points to earn an automatic spot in the NCAA Division III Championships. Blum beat a field of 22 athletes from all divisions.

Blum won both the shot put (41-11.50) and the javelin (186-7) while placing second in the high jump (6-2.25) and fourth in the discus (117-10).

Mike Miller from Springfield was second with 6,142 points, 55 behind Blum.

 
Men's Track - Flint and Romano are double winners as Bears place Second

Mike Flint won both the 800 and 1500 meters for the Bears.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/14/07)--Mike Flint won both the 800 (1:56.76)and 1,500 meters (3:56.98) while Matt Romano won the 400 meters (50.89) and was part of the winning 4x400 relay team as the Bears placed second of the four teams at the new track and field complex.

Romano teamed with Jason Erickson, Sam England and Thomas Adams to win the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:24.82.

Men's Track - Bears Place 2nd at CGA Invitational

Kevan Hanson won both the shot put and discus to lead the Bears to a second place finish.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/7/07)--Kevan Hanson won both the shot put (44 feet, 6 inches) and the discus (132 feet, 3 inches) which both qualify him for the New England Championships, leading Coast Guard to a second place finish at the CGA Invitational, the first meet held on Coast Guard's new outdoor track.

Also for Coast Guard, Mike Haas won the 1,500 meters (4:11.02), Mike Flint won the 5,000 meters (14:45.45), Zach Geyer won the high jump (6 feet, 7 inches) and Nate Rhodes won the pole vault (14 feet, 9 inches). Flint's time qualifies him provisionally for the NCAA Championships.
